Groundwater Monitoring and Remediation Techniques

This course was co-developed with hydrogeologists for geology professionals of the Association of Engineering Geologists.  The hydrogeologists developed course materials regarding the tools and techniques for sampling groundwater and for monitoring the flow of contaminants.  As an engineer, I focused on the basic engineering design factors, applicable treatment technologies, and the life cycle of groundwater remediation. Certified Hazardous Material Manager Review Course

This course was co-developed with a team of instructors for the Certified Hazardous Materials Control Review Course of the Hazardous Material Control Research Institute for environmental professionals seeking to obtain their Certified Hazardous Materials Manager certification. Oil Spill Containment and Cleanup, and Rules of the Road

I developed this course for chemical operators at Exxon’s Bayway Refinery who had a secondary duty containing and cleaning spills of crude oil or refined petroleum products in and around the refinery waterfront.  The US Coast Guard Rules of the Road were included so normally land-bound operators had an understanding of safe boat handling in inland waters during spill operations.

 

Environmental Field Training Internship

The Internship was funded by the US Department of Defense and created for the Environmental Management program of the University of California, Davis, University Extension, to retrain displaced civilian naval workers affected by the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC).  The internship provided naval workers hands-on environmental experiences at the active Environmental Management Directorate of McClellan Air Force Base.
