COLLEGE COURSES CREATED
New environmental technology (ET) courses, 260, 261, 270, 271, and 272, were created for the new Occupational Health and Safety Emphasis at Southwestern College (SWC). Secondly, 231 and 232 were created as an alternative to an existing SWC ET course (230); the new courses would give students a HazWOper (40-hour) certificate from the US Environmental Protection Agency and an Incident Commander certificate from the California Specialized Training Institute (CSTI), respectively, which would make students more marketable. Next, two pairs of courses were established: 150A and B, and 200A and B were each half the length of 150 and 200, respectively, to fit into the shorter six-week minisemester. Additionally, 231 and 232 were also each half the length of 230 for which they were intended as alternatives; although, 231 and 232 had different curricula. Lastly, EcoMundo (105) was developed for the SWC international Vecinos, The Baja Study Program; this course was first taught in Peru.
Environmental Management Internship, Innovative Treatment Technologies for Site Remediation, and Waste Minimization and Pollution Prevention were created for the Environmental Management program of the University of California, Davis, University Extension.
